Important stuff
We are a loose affiliation of keen individuals working towards a common goal, to tidy up litter, clear footpaths and improve our local environment.

We do so at our own risk. The group does not have public liability or any other insurance. Each member is responsible for their own safety and should be mindful of the safety of others.

Photographs of our group and our work are used to publicise the group and the issues around the town; if you don't want your image published please step aside or have a quiet word with the photographer.
Lots of people ask about equipment needed for litter picking:
Hoops are a huge help and again are available online but don't buy the cheapest as they quickly break. The POA group intermittently do a bulk buy of quality hoops to save on postage. Currently these cost £12. Contact Janet or speak to Sue M if you are interested.
When litter picking on the highways and roads a high visibility jacket is strongly advised. We have these to lend - a huge thanks to Nigel's Butchers for sponsoring these for us.
Litter pickers are available online and we have a few to loan out. They come in various sizes, and you need to choose one that is comfortable for your height and grip. They cost in the region of up to £15. Don't buy the really cheap ones.
Gloves are recommended, a lightweight gardening-type glove is ideal for in town work. Something more heavy duty is needed when we are clearing paths/brambles and for the more extreme spring and autumn clean ups. Source at Fairways or Mica.
Other than that, it's clothing appropriate for the weather and the terrain! If you are doing hedge clearing with Sue, then be prepared!
