Buscott Drive Brook, Part one...

prideinashbourne

Thursday afternoon saw 4 intrepid litter pickers attack a mass of hidden rubbish, including a large quantity of polystyrene that had accumulated in the brook just behind the houses on Highfield Road. Before we started you could barely see there was a waterway and by the time we had finished, the water was flowing freely and a good sized frog popped up to say hello!

This was serious clearing, involving a lot of mud & deceptively deep water in places. Car tyres, bottles, cans, plastic, old toys, car parts & builders' debris had all been dumped & were loaded into 4 huge builders sacks which had to be driven to the tip as the land is privately owned & not the councils' responsibility.

Despite working til dusk, (followed by tea back at Sue's, thanks Sue)

There is still a lot to be cleared further down the brook, but we have saved that for the next warm dry day.
