Great turnout today

There were at least 14 members who came to the meet point today, including several newcomers who were very welcome. Still more joined later!

We split into groups. One tidied around the town and the park; they received lots of positive feedback. Unfortunately they also discovered a few problem areas, notably round the back of The White Swan. More of than anon.

The second group set off to the top of the town, to the Co-op on Derby Hill, the Greggs and the chip shop and on towards the roundabout. Round the back of these shops was particularly bad, so the group approached the shop managers to encourage them to tidy for themselves.

The third group went out along the Belper Road to the lay-bys near Bradley wood. Here there was a lot of rubbish in the hedges including needles, syringes, and much abandoned food and drink. Six sacks were quickly filled.

The groups returned for a well earned coffee on the Beaumont's terrace.
