Derby Road

Updated: Oct 6, 2022

The campaign to get a large group of volunteers to help clear overgrown vegetation and reclaim the footpaths of Ashbourne, was launched in the Ashbourne Telegraph this week. Proud of Ashbourne members have been lobbying the local authority for many years, pointing out the safety issues as well as the unsightly appearances of overgrown hedges and disappearing paths in the town, but lacking any meaningful response, the group have put out a call to request all willing volunteers to sign up in principle to help. The work will include hedge-cutting, shovelling, weeding, strimming, raking and sweeping, and generally tidying up. The first footpath to be tackled will be the pavements on Derby Road. Safety measures will be put in place to protect volunteers from traffic. The date is to be arranged to suit the maximum number of people and the weather, but hopefully this side of December.
