The forecast is looking good for the morning of Sunday 30th, so lets go for 10am, which should see us finished in plenty of time for lunch.
We will be concentrating on hedge cutting, but there is lots of scope for pavement clearing if we have time and if anyone fancies it.
We will be above the traffic island, left hand side as you travel downhill.
Parked car safety barrier
If you don't drive, or don't want to bring your car - that's fine! But the more cars we have, the longer stretch of road we can make safe.
Those of you who have been before know how it works. We have a line of parked cars alongside the area where we are working. Park facing downhill, keeping away from the pavement (so we have space to work) and with a generous gap to the car in front. The road is wide and there is room for traffic to get by.
Stating the obvious but make sure you don't block the island or park too close to the bend.
Please be aware you are attending this event at your own risk and are responsible for your own safety.
What to bring
I will bring some spare tools to share. Any or all of the following will be useful:
Traffic cones & hi-viz
Petrol or cordless power tools: hedgetrimmers, blower / vacs, strimmers.... Be mindful please of eye & ear protection and keep a safe distance from others.
Cutting tools: secateurs, pruning saw, loppers...
Digging / earth loosening tools: spade, fork, trowel ....
Clearing tools: shovel, leaf rake, broom, dustpan ....
Debris containers: dumpy bags, and any bags you either don't mind losing (eg old compost bags or DDDC pink sacks), or can take to the tip yourself. Buckets and trugs will be needed if we get onto shifting soil.
Comfort: gloves, kneeling mat, choccie biccies, flask of tea etc.
Debris disposal
We are too far up the hill to use our previous dumping zone. We might be able to leave bags on the other side of the road but best to assume we take all our debris away with us.
Looking forward to seeing some of you there....
Sue
