Spring into Summer

For our last big outing of spring, 5 hardy individuals turned out in the damp and windy conditions and cleared the bypass (again) from top to bottom. It’s a long 1.3 miles and the roundabout at the bottom seemed like a mirage at times. The last stalwarts were out until 7pm! Well over

20 sacks of rubbish had accumulated since previous outings. We are so grateful to the council for supporting us, as carrying that amount of rubbish to the tip would make our job impossible. We had many cars tooting their support as they passed, well, that’s how we chose to interpret it anyway. The brambles are in full leaf now and the nettles are at ankle biting height, there will be no more ‘extreme’ litter picks until they die back down in the autumn.

Our normal outings will resume shortly, as soon as the ‘Keep Britain Tidy” group confirm we are allowed. If you want to be notified of our next group outing, make sure Janet has your email address, at proudofashbourne@gmail.com
